Tao Mijares

Tao Mijares, based in California, is a man of family, of Mexican culture, and of intimate expression. His career has spanned music, architecture, film, and writing; his life has spanned ages of fear, pride, confusion, solace, and triumph. "The Prison" is, among many things, a poem about liberty; about a prisoner whose crime was to believe himself lost, to know himself broken, to dream himself defeated. It is a poem about fear and hope—it is ultimately about each and every one of us.
